We have been thinking about bonfire night and watching a few firework displays in class.
We thought about words and phrases linked to this theme. Here they are

November Night Countdown

Twenty two adults,

Twenty banana slices,

Nineteen cup cakes,
on sale on a stall. (KB)

Seventeen rocket fireworks, 
gleaming in the beautiful, silent night.
 

Sixteen little children, 
holding their sparklers right. (JH)
 

Fifteen glowsticks
being made into circles. 
 

Fourteen sour sweets, 

what a tasty treat. (EB)

Thirteen marshmallows,

all sticky, warm and sweet. (LB, IB) 

Twelve toffee apples, 
being turned into a toffee pie. 
 

Eleven glow sticks, 
lighting up the night. 
 

Ten sizzling sausages,

Superhero Story Writing

Over the last few weeks we have been putting our imaginations to the test and writing stories where our character has to save the day.

The imagination in this story really shines through. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as we did.

Violet was in bed snoozing until WAAAHH. What was that? It was her calendar. On it, there, flashing like mad, was the supervillain alarm. Scarlet Squid had escaped! Violet put on a crimson red t-shirt and grass green trousers. She had dark black boots and yellow earings. She had red hair. Scarlett Squid wanted to take over the universe!

Her thoughts were interupted by her mummy's voice. "VIOLET we are going to be late if you don't hurry up. There is one minute until we go to the zoo and you know dad won't be pleased if we are late for his birthday. He is meeting us in the elephant part." So they went but he never showed up.

Violet turned into a super hero. She did this this by drinking poison and cave water mixed together with the blood stone of fire!

Then she said mum can I stay here and watch the elephant zoo? Of course you can her mum said but I will be a while so her mum set off. Violet went right and Rachel went left. 

When Violet went she saw the animals were all looking up. Violet carefully and suspiciously looked up then she saw a...well...what looked like a sting ray in the air. She knew it was Scarlet Squid's air ship and it was raining sticky bombs and they were not just raining on Violet, they were also raining on the mayor!

Soon she nor the mayor could  see because the bombs were soaking up and the mayor had bad eyesight.

Scarlet pressed a rainbow button that said grabber. As soon as she pressed it, a grabber zoomed down and grabbed the mayor and again for Violet. Then it put her and the mayor in the back of the plane. They were in a cage. Then all of a sudden they stopped. Then they were lifted out again. This time from in the cage. 

When they started to go out they saw eighty five giants some of whom were called Blood Bottler, Bone Cruncher, Flesh Lumper and Butcher Boy below them. Then Scarlet pressed a red button and the claw opened. They fell down and down and down and down and down into a giant's mouth and SMASH went its jaws but they did not die. 

The cage had smashed in half. Then they landed very quickly and very, very safely. They landed in their tummy. They knew it was Blood Bottler's tummy because there was blood everywhere. Violet put on her rocket powered skates and zoomed up the throat until some blood started to come down. As quick as a flash she drew a wand on her belt and it quickly became real and she said, "Wand to umbrella" and it didn't splash Violet or Steve (the mayor).

Violet put Steve on her back and put on her skates and she zoomed out. She kept on going up and up and up and up into the sky then they stopped. Violet groaned. "Oh no," she said. The rocket powered roller skates had run out of gas. They went down down down until they landed on a giant's head. She jumped off and she landed on the top of the air ship with Steve and she pulled her skates off and put the mayor down. 

Then she made her wand into a sword and made a hole in it. Then she tumbled in through the hole then she lifted her wand up and pointed it at Scarlet's heart. Then she went home.
