In Nursery we plan a theme based around children's interests, around what we would like the children to learn, the skills they need to develop, and around books of interest.
The ideas and activities you see on the planning are generally adult led.
In Nursery, the best learning often happens when children are following their own ideas and agenda, therefore we tend to follow their interests a lot and let them lead the learning at times. We call this "in the moment teaching"; when we join them at an activity of their choosing and move their learning forward through modelling and questioning.
We feel that this creates a good mix of adult led and child led learning.
