Complete 1-2 pages of your 'Phase 2 booklet' and 'Phase 2 tricky words booklet' to recap the sounds we have covered up to press. 

 

 

 

 

The 'ai' digraph

1. Share the 'ai' sound with your child. (ai as in train or aim)
2. Watch the video
3. Look for things in your house that have the ai sound in or recall some of those seen in the clip.
4. Ask them to draw 2-3 of the items they found on a piece of paper.
5. Ask your child to sound out each item found.
6. Ask them to count how many sounds that item has and ask them to draw their sound lines.
7. Ask them to write the sounds on the lines.

The 'ue' digraph

1. Share the 'ue' sound with your child. (ue as in clue or due)
2. Watch the video
3. Look for things in your house that have the 'ue' sound in or recall some of those seen in the clip.
4. Ask them to draw 2-3 of the items they found on a piece of paper.
5. Ask your child to sound out each item found.
6. Ask them to count how many sounds that item has and ask them to draw their sound lines.
7. Ask them to write the sounds on the lines.

The 'ee' digraph

1. Share the 'ee' sound with your child. (ee as in bee or tree)
2. Watch the video
3. Look for things in your house that have the 'ee' sound in them or recall some of those seen in the clip. Check with your grown-up that they are coded with the 'ee' digraph. (e.g. sea has the 'ee' sound in but it is spelled/coded with the 'ea' code.
4. Ask them to draw 2-3 of the items they found on a piece of paper.
5. Ask your child to sound out each item found.
6. Ask them to count how many sounds that item has and ask them to draw their sound lines.
7. Ask them to write the sounds on the lines.

The 'oo' digraph as in the word moon

1. Share the 'oo' sound with your child. (or as moon)
2. Watch the video
3. Look for things in your house that have the long oo sound spelled with the letters 'oo' or recall some of those seen in the clip.
4. Ask them to draw 2-3 of the items they found on a piece of paper.
5. Ask your child to sound out each item found.
6. Ask them to count how many sounds that item has and ask them to draw their sound lines.
7. Ask them to write the sounds on the lines.

Our Topic

'The same but different'. We are learning about what makes us the same and what makes us unique as human beings. We will be learning about what makes us similar and different to animals. We will be learning about changes in our environment for example changes in the weather or seasonal changes.  We will be talking about the changes they have noticed on their return to school and will be helping them to prepare for moving into their new class.
