Homework

Homework in Year 3.

1) Reading at home: Your child should be reading at home daily. Reading to an adult gains extra housepoints, if a signature is shown in their reading record. Please encourage them to change their book regularly and make sure they have their reading book at school everyday too.

2) Times Tables: Your child should learn the current times table that they are on at school. This also includes the division element of a given times table. All children start on the 2x table and work their way up. They will move on to the next times table when they have got full marks on the weekly tables test. Times table practice sheets are in folders in the classroom for your child to take home if they wish. The times tables test takes place every Wednesday morning.

3) Spellings: Your child will have been given a set of FIVE spellings to learn weekly. If they are using the activity booklet, then please assist them in doing the activities with each set of spellings. The spelling test takes place on a Tuesday afternoon every week.

4) Other homework: Occasionally, your child might be given a piece of homework which is either science or topic related.
