Kids are still learning to the bagpipes to this day and are finding new ways to help others to enjoy this spectacular instrument!

Week 2 - Irish Music and Irish Instruments

 

Lesson 1 

What are we learning to do?

Traditional Irish Music

Traditional instruments in Northern Ireland include:

- the fiddle,

- the penny whistle

- the accordion

- the harp

- the fife (a small wooden flute known)

- the bouzouki (an eight string long neck instrument similar to a guitar)

- the uilleann pipes. (similar to bagpipes)

Two pieces of music are used to represent Northern Ireland:

Bodhran drum

Listen to the Bodhran Boys playing their instruments and doing some Irish dancing

Activity 2 - Make your own Bodhran drum
