Music
Over the year we will play a tuned and untuned instrument and learn to sing a variety of songs. We learn lots of musical skills including how to find and keep the pulse of music. We are getting very good at keeping a steady beat and learning to use our voices effectively as a choir.
Hands, feet and heart
We have been learning to read musical notation called Kodally. This shows rhythm.
We clapped a rhythm from reading musical notation.
Then we used our instruments to beat out the same rhythm, still reading the notation.
We learnt a new rhythm using the same notation.
We read the new rhythm and clapped it out.
Then we played our instruments whilst reading the notation.
We composed our own rhythms and were able to begin writing them using notation. Then we played, and the class even had a go at reading each other’s notation and playing!
