Music (Monday)

Week 1

Lesson 1 (18th Jan) - Write/Make up your own 'I am the Baker Man' song

What are we learning to do?

  • Use our voices expressively and creatively by singing songs and speaking chants and rhymes
  • Listen with concentration and understanding to recorded music

Introduction

Introduce the song: 'I am the Baker Man' (to the tune  of ‘I am the Music Man’)

Explain that some words stay the same in each verse - they repeat and some words change (the coloured words). We can recycle words in songs in the same way as we recycle characters in stories. Can you think of any words we could use instead of the coloured words? We need to be able to shorten it e.g. crunchy crunch, munchy munch, snappy snap, chewy chew, licky lick etc.

Ask - What if the Baker man baked something else instead of biscuits? Would that change the words you would choose? e.g. If it was pizza you might have stretchy stretch, spinny spin for the cheese or slicy slice, cheesy cheese. The aim is to be creative and to have fun.
