Extra Reading Resources

Reading online

We are recommending the following free websites as a resource. This will provide children with a wide variety of books to read whilst school is closed.

 

Teachers are now able to set chapters of books to read online on Purple Mash. Related activities and quizzes will then also be set to support children's developing comprehension skills. 

 

Oxford Owl is a free resource which links directly to our school reading scheme. Many books are available to read online. They also have additional phonics and maths resources you will be able to access at home. Click on the picture to go to the website.

 

Funbrain is a website which has a number of books available online including chapter books. It is American and some of the language is obviously different. Click on the picture to go to the website.

 

Again, this site is American but has lots of books and games which the children really enjoy. There are a number of comprehension games too. Click on the picture to go to the website.

David Walliams is releasing a FREE audio story every day for the next 30 days. Click on the picture to go to the website.
