Reading online

We are unable to send several scheme reading books home with children in Year 2 due to a lack of the correct number of books at some book bands, instead we are recommending the following free websites as a resource. This will provide children with a wide variety of books to read in the event school is closed.

Oxford Owl is a free resource which links directly to our school reading scheme. Many books are available to read online. They also have additional phonics and maths resources you will be able to access at home.

Funbrain is a website which has a number of books available online including chapter books. It is American and some of the language is obviously different.

Again, this site is American but has lots of books and games which the children really enjoy. There are a number of comprehension games too.

This is a lovely selection of books children can read online.

David Walliams is releasing a FREE audio story every day for the next 30 days.

Amazon are scrapping their subscription charge for all children to access their books and stories online on Audible.
