Easy Riders at Queens Park
We were all very excited to travel on a bus to Queens Park Sports Centre to compete in the Early Riders competition. Back in November and December, we carried out our balance bike training in school. We practised moving and controlling our balance bikes. We learnt about how to be safe on our bikes. We also learnt to glide on our bikes and how to come to a stop safely. We had a fantastic afternoon riding the different balance bikes and trikes and watching the children from other schools compete.
Bedtime Stories
We had a lovely evening for our Bedtime Story session. We came back to school with our grown-ups in our pyjamas. We shared our favourite stories and had a bedtime snack – milk and biscuits.
Mrs Coles read us ‘It’s Snorey Time’ written by Meg & Catherine Pybus. We all nearly fell to sleep….Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
Kung Hei Fat Choy
As part of our Chinese New Year celebrations, we learnt a lion dance with percussion. Our visitor demonstrated how to dance with the lion. He also taught us how to use the percussion instruments and how to follow a steady beat. We had lot’s of fun!
Welcome to Highfield Hall Coffee Shop
After Christmas, several children in Reception were interested in the idea of having a Coffee Shop role play as they had visited coffee shops over the Christmas holidays with their families. One of our parents works in a coffee shop so she provided staff uniforms, coffee beans, menus, take away coffee cups and other resources. The children took on the different roles of coffee maker, cashier, waiter and customer. The children took the orders and worked out the cost using ten frames.
