‘Chesterfield’s Still Blooming’ will run from now until Wednesday 30 September 2020. Winners will be given a prize and special certificate and will also have the satisfaction of knowing they grew one of the best sunflowers in the borough.
Whilst growing your flowers, a great way of keeping children engaged is to start a plant diary and allow them to track the growth of your sunflower. This is also a good way of teaching them about how plants grow and what they need to survive. The council will be awarding prizes and special certificates for the most creative growth diaries. Please send pictures or copies of your growth diaries along with your entry to firstname.lastname@example.org
May is the best time to start to grow your sunflowers indoors before moving them outside ready to bloom by late summer.
