Go on Phonics play. You can revise any sound you wish.

Click on Phase 5

Try the sound 'igh' as in 'night', 'light' and 'sigh'

This is a trigraph because three letters are used to write this sound down.

Click on Obb and Bob, Buried Treasure or Dragon's Den

Sound out and blend the word.

Sort the words like we do in class. Is it real or alien?

Ask your child if they can remember any other codes for today's sound.

e.g. 'ie' like in 'pie', 'i_e' like in 'bike' and 'y' like in 'my or try'.

Test out your new Phonics skills with this super cool Comic.

This is another trigraph just like yesterday because 3 letters make one sound.

Click on Obb and Bob, Buried Treasure or Dragon's Den

Sound out and blend the word.

Sort the words like we do in class. Is it real or alien?

Talk about the other sounds that can be made by these letters 'ear'.

In the word 'pear' these letters make a different sound  to the same three letters in 'fear'.

In the word 'heart' they make a different sound although this isn't common.

In the word 'earth' they make a different sound again.

Maths  - O'clock times

Use your clock at home (analogue would be best)

If you don't have one, use this one online

https://www.teacherled.com/iresources/numeracybasics/?resource=clock

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/time/teaching-clock

https://www.visnos.com/demos/clock

The shorter hour hand says the number it is pointing to.

When the longer minute hand is on the number 12 it says 'o'clock

Test yourself on o'clock times by playing what time is it Mr Wolf.

https://www.purplemash.com/#app/pup/maths_activities_Y1_time_hours

https://www.purplemash.com/#app/pup/maths_activities_Y1_time_hours_mixed

Print the blank clock faces if you have access to a printer and draw o'clock times.

Check you have drawn the minute hand longer than the hour hand.

Check you haven't mixed up the 2 hands.

Encourage your child to notice o'clock times in the days and weeks that follow.

F

Maths  - Half Past Times

Use your clock at home (analogue would be best)

If you don't have one, use this one online

https://www.teacherled.com/iresources/numeracybasics/?resource=clock

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/time/teaching-clock

https://www.visnos.com/demos/clock

When the longer minute hand is on the number 6 it says 'half past' because it has travelled half way around the clock.

The shorter hour hand will be halfway between 2 numbers or hours. The hour it has already gone past is the one we say because it has not yet reached the next hour.

Test yourself on half past times by playing what time is it Mr Wolf.

https://www.purplemash.com/#app/pup/maths_activities_Y1_time_half_past

Print the blank clock faces if you have access to a printer and draw half past times

Check you have drawn the minute hand longer than the hour hand.

Check you haven't mixed up the 2 hands.
