Week commencing 1st February 2021

Literacy

This week we are reading Zog by Julia Donaldson.

ZOG - By Julia Donaldson. Children's illustrated audiobook.

This week we are learning about rhyme...

  • When you’re reading Zog, listen out for the rhyming words, can you join in with them?
  • How many words can you think of to rhyme with Zog? Can you draw a picture and write labels for them 🐶 🪵 🐸
  • Go on a rhyme hunt... can you find things around your house that rhyme? Have you got a cat 🐈 and a hat šŸ‘’ or a sock 🧦 and a clock ā° or maybe a chair šŸŖ‘ and a bear 🐻

Creative

Can you have a go at making the dragon from the story? You could use a paper plate like in the picture below. See if your adult can help you to draw the dragons head and then cut out the different parts of the dragon from the plate. You could paint or colour the parts of the dragon before sticking it together. If you don’t have a paper plate you could use card to make the dragon.

              Computing

You have been set a 2do on Purple Mash to design your own knight and dragon.

PE

In PE this week we are practising our jumping and balancing skills. We will be jumping over a line. If you have a skipping rope or a piece of string you could lay it on the floor to make a line. You could also use chalk to draw a line outside. We will be trying the following movements:

  • Practise different jumps to cross your line such as forward jumps, backwards jumps and star jumps.
  • Try standing on the balls of your feet on the line and see how long you can keep your heels off the ground.
  • Staying on the balls of your feet shake your hands high/low/fast/slow.
  • Try to balance as you lift your right foot off the ground and place it back down on the line. Can you balance as you lift the other foot off the ground?
