Y3/4 Mrs Riley

Drumming Workshop

We took part in a drumming workshop, learning to play Samba beats. We learnt a lot about the different instruments and the rhythms that they play to make up the sound of the Samba.

Zoo Workshop

Animal House brought some wonderful animals for us to meet.

World Book Day

We had some fabulous costumes for World Book Day. We talked about our favourite books.

Maths - investigating division in year 3

December - Design Technology - Making a stuffed toy

We investigated different stuffed animals and recorded their features, materials and the way they were fixed together. We used a pattern to create our own polar themed animals, thinking carefully about who they were being made for so that we could add features that were safe and appropriate. Although we all used the same basic pattern they all looked unique!

Bikeability - 9th October

Some of the Year 3 children took part in bikeability. This involved learning about bike safety, handling the bike and learning some of the hand signals.

Oompa Loompas!

This week in English we are going to write a fact file to help Mr Willy Wonka look after his tribe of Oompa Loompas. We made our own Oompa Loompas to help us.

Week of Inspirational Maths 10th - 15th September

We spent the week exploring the importance of growth mindset in mathematics. We used squares to calculate the area of rectangles and investigated how many rectangles could be made with a certain number of squares.

We worked in groups to make 2d and 3d shapes using a single length of string. This taught us the importance of team work and good communication.
