Hello new year 4 class. We are very excited to meet you all and welcome you to your new classroom. Below is some information you will to need to have before we return to school in September...
Year 4 Staff
Miss Gleadall will be your class teacher Monday to Wednesday all day and on Thursday mornings.
Mrs Wilson will be your class teacher on Thursday afternoons and all day on Fridays.
Mrs Carlile will be your classroom teaching assistant.
Contacting us.
If you need to get in touch with school via email, the address is:
info@highfieldhall.derbyshire.sch.uk
You are also welcome to phone the office with anything urgent.
We will let you know if anything important has been added to the class page via the school app/text messaging service too.
Classroom location.
Our classroom overlooks the new year three block and is on the first floor next to Miss Riley's class (the other year 4 classroom). We have our own intervention room for small group work which is on the same corridor.
Learning in Year 4.
You will receive a topic leaflet during the first week which will detail what we intend to teach in the first half-term. Other information regarding learning will always be added to the class page too.
Pick-up & Drop-off.
Drop-off time in the morning is 8:50am and our pick-up time is 3:30pm. Pick-up and drop-off zones are outside the infant yard entry door to the main building.
Morning routine.
Children should hang their coats outside the classroom on our brand new pegs. If your child has a small bag to carry other things like water bottles, snacks and reading books, etc, then that would be useful too although please avoid large rucksacks. School bags will be stored in a trolley outside the classroom. Lunchboxes for children on sandwiches will be stored in the corridor outside the hall in 'lunchbox alley.'
Break times.
AM: 10:40-10:55. Children may bring in a healthy snack for this break time.
Lunch: 12-1pm.
PM: 2:20-2:30.
Toilets.
The toilets which our class will use from September are next to the main KS2 cloakroom near to the front entrance downstairs.
Stationery and jotters.
We like to use jotters for note-taking, etc in year 4. If you would like to buy a notebook/jotter for your child to use in class then you are welcome to do so. The children often like to have their own personalised jotter which gives them some ownership. If not, school can provide a notebook for this purpose.
Children do not need to bring a pencil case or any other stationery to school as we will have this in the classroom ready for the start of term already; each child will be provided with their own tray and school pack to use.
Uniform.
School uniform should consist of the following:
-White or red polo shirt or shirt.
-Red sweater or cardigan.
-Dark trousers, shorts or skirt (grey/black), grey pinafore or a red gingham summer dress.
-Dark shoes or sandals. (Velcro if child cannot yet tie shoe-laces).
P.E and swimming.
P.E will take place on a Tuesday morning. Please make sure that children come to school wearing their P.E kit as we will not be storing kits in school anymore so they can be taken home and washed.
P.E Kit:
-A white t-shirt.
-A plain, dark tracksuit or leggings or dark shorts (navy or black).
-Sports trainers.
P.E lessons will sometimes take place outside so please make sure they have something on to keep them warm and dry in colder weather.
Swimming will take place on a Wednesday morning. Children will be split into two groups and will swim fortnightly whilst the other half of the class have computing in the classroom. Please make sure children bring their swimming kit if it is their week to swim.
We look forward to meeting you all very soon!
