Year 1 Mrs Martin

Hello!

I can't wait to see you all again tomorrow morning! smiley We are going to have a great time together!

Miss Lawless and I will come to the football pitch area on the Junior playground at 8:50 to meet you and take take you to our new classroom.

🏫 What do I need to bring to school?

You need

💧 A drinks bottle with plain water only in.

🍏 An afternoon snack (healthy and nut free please)

📚 A book bag

💼 A lunchbox if you are having sandwiches

See you tomorrow!!

Mrs Martin

Grown ups-here is lots of information for you. Hopefully it answers a lot of your questions. smiley

Who are we?

Our New Classroom

Where do we wait in the mornings and where do grown-ups wait at the end of the day?

Please wait on the football pitch and we will come to collect you and take you to class.

At the end of the day, could grown-ups please wait on the football pitch? We will bring your children out to you.

This is where you wait at the beginning and the end of the day.

What will I need to bring with me?

-a water bottle with plain water in it. Please check your child can operate the lid independently at drink time.

-a nut free snack for afternoon playtime and a bottle of still juice for playtime if you wish.

-a waterproof coat so that you are all set for outdoor learning and those spontaneous drizzly play times that we get here.

-your packed lunch if you have sandwiches.

Medication/Allergies etc.

Please bring any medication your child needs on your first morning with us with a completed medication form. (There should be some of these in the outdoor classroom and you can download one from the website***)

Please note that if the item is an inhaler, this will need signing in. Bring the inhaler and medical form to your waiting area and an adult will bring you the sign in sheet once all of the children have been taken into the classroom.

Our toilets and sinks-we share this ONLY with Miss Evans' Y1 class.

This is the area we will play in at play time and dinner time

Where will I eat my lunch?

If you have school dinners, you will eat in the hall like you did last year and have done so far this year.

If you bring sandwiches, you will eat them in the classroom or on the playground if it the weather is nice.

Reading books

Reading books will be collected in, and two new books will be given out every MONDAY. You will also be ‘assigned’ online books on Reading Planet (an online resource) so that you can read more if you want to (more information to follow). This will help you to ensure your child is able to read at home should they have to self isolate at any point over the year. We can't give out any more I'm afraid because they will need to be quarantined when we get them back and there won't be enough books to give out to all the children.

Reading record books

At the start of the year we will give you a new reading record to keep at home and use at home.  You don't need to return it with your books.

The books you have read on Reading Planet will automatically be recorded online once you have done the fun quiz at the end.

Contact with us about your child's reading

Please do get in touch if you need to share something with us about your child's reading or ask any questions you might have about reading.

We will still wash hands and use sanitiser regularly throughout the day to keep us safe in school!

Will there be an assembly?

No we can't have an assembly yet but we will have a time of reflection in our classroom and we will still celebrate your achievements on Friday in class with medal certificates.

Lastly, we can’t wait to meet you! It’s not long now! smileyyes
