Year 2 is a busy year and we have lots to do and learn. There are some things that you can do to support your child at home.
Reading regularly with your child - this can be listening to them read to you or sometimes it is nice to share a book and talk about it with your child too. This helps promote a love of reading.
Sharing the phonics folder with your child and practice reading and spelling the phonemes we have been learning in class.
Maths Games - Maths is fun! There are lots of games you can play with your child to help with their number skills. Every child also has a log in and password to the Abacus platform where they can play games which support and allow them to practice skills learnt in school.
Here are a list of the common exception words that we need to read and spell by the end of Year 2.
We spent a day learning about what happens in a General Election. We formed political parties, thought of manifestos, prepared propaganda materials and gave speeches to the electorate. We took part in a ballot at the end of the day to vote for the party that we felt should run the country.
" This has been the best day ever!" - Bronwyn
Jo Jackson came to our school to talk to us about her career. We learned what hard work it took to become an olympic athlete!. We all took part in a sponsored circuit to raise money for sports activities in and out of school.
