As part of the commemoration of the 100 year anniversary of the end of WW1 we have been crocheting poppies which we will make into a wreath. Many thanks to Owen's grandma who came in to show the children some wonderful crocheting skills.
Today the road safety team came into school to teach us about the importance of road safety and the possible consequences of not concentrating around roads. The children discussed ways in which they could keep themselves safe around roads.
Today we had a special visitor to show us some amazing science experiments! We learnt all about centrifugal forces and what happens when you put a banana in liquid nitrogen!
We made light up Christmas decorations using our learning in both science and design technology. The decorations had to be able to stand up, light up and be Christmas themed. We spent all day making them and there were some fantastic designs.
As part of our topic we have been looking at pieces of art in and around Chesterfield. We each made our own tile, decorated with an aspect of Chesterfield to form part of a wall. We thought that it would look lovely in the new housing estate.

Today we held our elections for the class representative to the School Council. We heard some very well-thought out speeches and the choice was not an easy one. In the end the most votes went to Isla and she will now represent our class at School Council meetings. Well done to everyone who stood and prepared speeches!

This week we have been investigating numbers and the patterns that they make. We have looked at Pascal's triangle, triangular numbers and Fibonacci's triangle. We have looked at all the different ways we can see seven and talked about our maths ideas together.
