Walking to school

How we travel to and from school can make a huge difference in a number of ways: If we walk to school every day, it can help us to get or stay healthy, reduce the air pollution in Chesterfield, and help reduce traffic congestion near the school site.

The NHS recommends that children aged 5-18 aim for at least 60 minutes moderate exercise A DAY. Whilst children will do exercise at school, walking to school counts as part of that moderate exercise.

If you live further away from school, why not 'park and stride'? This means parking a distance away from school (a kilometre? a mile?), and walking the rest of the way. This way, parents get twice as much exercise too!
